Activities

Saturday School activities have been numerous, all with the goal of learning new things and exploring new possibilities:

1.   Fishing Social with the St. CharlesLions
2.   Swimming party
3.   Exploring a local mall
4.   A trip to the Des Moines Zoo
5.   Baking cookies with Braille recipes
6.   Christmas party with a blind Santa and singing Christmas carols
7.   Making Valentines and Christmas gifts for family and friends
8.   Exploring the downtown Des Moines Skywalk system
9.   Going to the Farmer's Market in Downtown Des Moines
10. Climbed a Rock Wall at In-Play, an activities place in downtown Des Moines
11. Went "grocery shopping" with money and a list of things to buy

 

Upcoming Events:

1.   Our next meeting is Saturday, February 13th.  The kids will be making crafts and the parents will be working on their Braille skills

2.  June us March 13th of our monthly get together.

3.  April 10th will be the date of our April meeting.

4.  April 16th - 18th will be the dates for the Spring Vision Conference.  This weekend will be held in Des Moines at Adventurland Inn.

5.  May 8th will be our last get together for the Summer.  We will meet at 10am at the Iowa Department for the Blind in downtown Des Moines.  We hope to see you there.
